Polar

So, a bunch of TAS-ers are running this race on the first of the year. We plan to at the very minimum, do well. We may actually rock. I don’t know everyone’s plans, so I can’t let you know. I simply want to do it in an hour. Oh, and have some damn fun. More than that…dress appropriately! Good luck, all!!! We may be really, really hung over, so here’s to hoping you feel better than Lumpy and Sally!!!!

New stuff coming soon!

I will post eventually. No, really. We also have two new ladeez to listen to, read, make fun of, support, and run with!

I’ll be back soon! We just bought Our Very Own cross country skis!!! Merry Christmas, Lumpy’s Dad! Thanks for the check!

As to running; I’m very proud of My Toots. I loved every birthday gift she gave me. She rocked Monterrey. I would have died in the heat and she just took it in stride and did what had to be done. Impressive. Inspiring. Daring.

All in all, she did what I always knew she would do whilst there.

Lumpy and I are playing, sometimes running. Sledding. Hopefully skating soon, if they clear the snow. Now that we own our own XC skis, we’ll be skiing. We do not start training for the next marathon until Feb. 1, so there will be more reports of SNOW, SNOW, SNOW!!!!! yay!

No, really, there is a mountain there!

El Cerro de la Silla

Cloudy rainy weather and smog kept the mountains and hills that surround Monterrey hidden from sight for almost 2 whole days. It wasn’t until marathon morning that the sky finally cleared up and El Cerro de la Silla along with all the other mountains became visible making the marathon start quite scenic. It was beautiful…just like I remember from over 25 years ago when I used to spend every summer there with grandma. Unfortunately smog and pollution have since taken over and one can go days without being able to see the beautiful mountains. I caught myself saying one too many times, “there’s a moutain there”, “no really, there is a mountain there”…. Yes, sadly, the pollution is that bad.

Now, the marathon, on the other hand is definitely a must! (Yes, despite the bad air quality!). It is by far the cheapest, best organized, most scenic, best schwag, evaaaah! Let’s see, for under $20 (more like $14 depending on the exchange rate) you get:

1. registered

2. wind jacket

3. pasta dinner (and dance! a DANCE! lol! Ok, since I ended up being the only one running, we decided to skip this)

4. a sweat towel

5. finisher medal (very nice!)

6. finisher long sleeve technical shirt (also very nice!)

7. recovery snack bag ( you know, the usual…water, sports drink, fruit…)

8. recovery meal (beans, rice, and tacos…gotta love it!)

9. since ARCA is a major sponsor, they also provide you with a snack bag full of ARCA snack products

10. a scratch a win ticket (all you have to do is answer a trivia question – I won an LG stereo!!! Thanks, Lumpy for lugging that thing around for me!)

lulu est decede ce matin a 10 heures les obseque lundi a 13 30 gros disous jojo

That was the only thing I have in this email. Just a subject line. So, this post will not be in English.

Can you BE- LIEEEEEVE this SHITE??????

I have another fracking cold.  I’ve not been running religiously . (Wink, nudge, Toots…), but I’ve BEEN RUNNING!!!! I’ve been eating 2 good meals a day (my health rule), I’ve been healthy in my thoughts about myself and others!!! I survived Lumpy’s Swine Flu Mini Epidemic!!!!!!!

Cripes. I have another chest infection. I had no plans for Monterrey, to be honest, but I wanted to finish with my head up. Yet again, my health is getting in the way. I didn’t even push myself like I normally do. Feh.

Maybe this is the Grand Message. I plan on the summer Minneapolis marathon to be my last for a while, while I play with distance and different sport combinations.  I think that Julio/Sag is willing to do the Monster Series with me. Best part? You don’t have to run a marathon!!! (S0, hey, anyone south of the Mason Dixon Line…come up for a run!!!). Continue reading ‘Can you BE- LIEEEEEVE this SHITE??????’
