It’s done!

I have officially finished my checklist. I just received my visa today, I have my ticket, I have my gifts, I have to pack!!! I leave in about a week. One fuzzy hat it is, Toots. OF COURSE I know you’ll wear it. sheesh. What’s really funny about that is that I kept joking with people at work about bringing them a fuzzy hat and they all took it seriously and acted rude and said “I don’t need a fuzzy hat. I don’t get it…” Frigging Scandinavians. feh.

Banana, I still have stuff to send you. Let’s just say I’m “pulling a Toots” and taking a long time to send it. How’s post graduation life?

I have not been running other than She Runs and women’s running class. I’m tired. I need about a week’s worth of naps. My knee hurts off and on, but it’s a sharp pain, so I’m laying off. My running class has built up to 6 miles, which I will run with them, but I’ll probably lay off again after that.  Lumpy and I have been riding a bit, and I’ve been sleeping a lot. I’ll train later!!!!

Running class comes by tomorrow for our final run and a bbq, then French class comes on Sunday for un beau repas francais. Pardon the lack of accent marks. Alors, on y va. A la prochaine…

Thanks! Just the fact that you thought to get something is nice. :)

Post graduation life is strange–still trying to get used to having more free time. I’ve been really busy with work since I’m now the big cheese at my site. I really really love my job and sometimes it’s hard to leave it at the end of the day. It’s also nice to come home and not have to stress about the 10 billion things I have to do before I get to homework. My little Hurricane (as she’s been nicknamed by the family) and I actually have dinner together, play outside, go to the store, etc. These are the things I missed the most and glad I can do again. I’m getting ready to start running hopefully this week! Excited!! :)

Such an exciting adventure you have in front of you! I’m sorry to hear that your knee hurts. I’ll be thinking about you as you go to the land of fuzzy hats. I’m picturing you breaking into Fiddler on the Roof Classics as you run down the Russian streets, “Match maker match maker make me a match!”

    I wish I had a checklist….

One of these days I’ll make it to Russia. Enjoy your trip - oh I know you will. The last one sounded like great fun. Can’t wait to hear about the Cathedrals you’ll be working on.

Run along now. A la prochaine!

I ONLY HAVE 2 TEACHING GROUPS!!!!! Let the games begin…

Actually, I would have like to have an older group. My oldest is 11 years old, and I’m not sure that I can use the music/listening/political discussion exercise that I have planned. Either way, my teaching load is way light and I intend on “infiltrating” the older groups and making them MINE MINE MINE. I hope Kevin doesn’t mind. (He’s my co-trouble maker.) I intend on stirring up some crap with the older kids even though they are not assigned to me. I guess I just won’t tell him. heh heh heh heh heh. The Lumpy Philosophy of Teaching has finally gotten to me and made sense. (hands rubbing together, light chuckle, lights dimming…)

Hello again, Sally. On your comment about my comment: YOU ARE the greatest coach. I’ve noticed that one of the tricky things about working with kids is that they don’t always give instant gratification of all of the hard work that you put into it… I mean, they aren’t jumping up and down saying, “Thank you for making me carry this heavy backpack in the rain and put up my own tent! I can really feel my character building!” I have resolved to plug on, knowing that in 15 years they may not remember my name, but they’ll be better because I expected them to be tougher than they thought they could be.

Also, one of my students did a girls running program called Girls on the Run and said that all of the girls complained while running. Food for thought…

ha ! ha! We originally meant to be Girls on the Run. ha!!!!! We thought we could do better/more/offer more than running/ and now here we are. Shit. It’s all the same. I’m going to bed. Kids wear me the hell out.
