Pedaling Downhill to Nowhere

So I chose today, with the near 70F temps, as the kick-off to my biking home from work season. Maybe this will kick start some much needed training for myself.

However, today we had a wind advisory in effect. 20mph winds, gusts up to 40mph, out of the South. Great, bringing all the warm Southern area up here to Minnefreezer. Here’s the flaw: about 80% 90% of my ride home is DUE SOUTH. I don’t feel like doing the math, but that’s a lot of force.

Let’s just say, I had to peddle while going downhill just to keep moving forward.

Wear Your Jeans

Friday April 18th

Denim Day event-

Make a social statement with your fashion statement: wear jeans with a purpose! The Denim Day campaign started in 1999 in response to the Italian Supreme Court overturning a rape conviction because the 17 year old victim wore jeans. The justices reasoned that the victim must have helped her attacker (her 45 year old driving instructor) remove her jeans because they were “tight,” thereby implying her consent. Italian women protested the decision by wearing jeans and every year since the ruling, activist groups in the United Sates have participated in the Denim Day Campaign.
