It’s like a little weather palindrome…

Thanks for the Medal!

Awww!  I feel so special!  I got an Afton medal too!  :)  Congrats to the actual finishers.  I got to see some of the pics on Toots’ website.  Love the wings on the shoe.  It reminds me of the trophy that the Man in the Yellow Hat from Curious George received when he took 17th place in a marathon.  :)

Well, the same day as the Afton Run, I participated in the American Cancer Society Making Strides Walk in Pasco County.  I walked with my team from work.  Drew and Salma joined us as well.  It was at some place in Dade City called Steeplechase.  It’s a horse racetrack–a big field of grass.  It had rained all night and that morning so the grass was very wet and there were some soggy sections.  The distance was 5k.  Drew and one of my coworkers (with a 3 year old in tow) opted out after the first lap because it was very difficult to push the strollers in wet grass.  I pushed for a while and I got tired!  Everyone else in the team decided to go home after the first lap-except me of course and the one breast cancer survivor on the team.  We finished the second lap.  It was actually quite emotional.  I didn’t even know that she was a survivor.  Besides that, her sister just died of a rare disease less than a month before the walk.  My coworker aired her heart during the second lap and I’m glad she did.  I love how people can just be there for one another just like that.  I guess it is what makes us human.
