Running. Grass. Good.

It is a well established fact, here, that Salonpas is the Shite Bomb! But, I gotta say, running on dirt, rocks, and grass is even better. As Sally noted , we ran Afton and The Lumpy’s ass was kicked. But it just ain’t the same as 8 miles on pavement. I felt pretty damn good this morning. Not so much by the time I took The TARDIS for a 9 mile spin riding home from work…. But that’s not the point.

Afton is some kick ass trail running, IMO.

MudPie Blizzard and a Scotch, please…

I think we can all agree that going for a run is a wonderful time to ponder. I think about all kinds of stuff when I’m running, I daydream and work though stuff that is troubling me. Recently I’ve been thinking a lot about my father, remembering. He died 3 years ago today. It was very sudden, he had a heart attack and was just gone. So I’d like to take a moment to share with you some of the things I learned from my Dad:

1. You should always pay your credit cards in full, every month. There is NO excuse to get behind!
2. It’s OK to cry when something moves you.
3. If it’s worth saying, it’s worth singing. Banana- he sang the word banana to Beethoven’s 5th more times than I can even try to count, he’d have driven you nuts. :-)
4. Be passionate about what you do. And when you don’t feel that passion, consider making a change, or even letting it go.
5. Fart jokes are always funny and rarely inappropriate.
6. Snuggle kisses are a great way to tuck your kids in at night.
7. American cheese actually tastes good on chocolate chip cookies. And apple pie.
8. Magic is real.
9. Things you find intensely annoying in the moment can turn into your favorite memories.
10. Every time you say goodbye to someone you love, take an extra moment to make sure they know just how much you care.

So if you have a moment tonight for a scotch on the rocks, or a mudpie blizzard, then indulge. And reflect on something that makes you smile.
