This week’s runs have been somewhat uneventful but really tiresome. Punxsk8erdude accompanied me on his bike during my two 3 milers. He keeps me on my toes, shouting out comments like: ”Si se puede!”, “You can do it!”, “Come on, mama, faster! faster!”…ok sometimes I just want to whack him! But in the end, it’s all good….
Anyway, my midweek 5 miler and today’s 3 miler were…let’s just say, not good. It was just too hot and humid, my legs felt heavy and tired, and I just could not get a good pace or breathing rhythm going and that just tired me out even more. Oh yeah, and I really need to get some more sleep! GEEZ!!! Is it midnight ALREADY?!?
We’ll see how this weekend’s 10 miler works out.
I have not yet gotten aforementioned tattoo. Waddya think about getting it before/after/during (okay, that’s not realistic) the Big Woods 1/2? I still have the design in my head.
My legs are soooo tired and I just ache everywhere. I’m currently sporting Salonpas patches on my lower back and my elbows…yes, that’s right, my elbows. Apart from running 4 days a week, I’ve been hitting the gym twice a week to work on my arms (and abs…those really need some serious work) and I’ve also been cycling, most recently on my real bike but also at the gym on a stationary. I enjoy cycling but it does a number on my wrists and elbows…especially the upright bikes. Oh yeah, and I think I will be losing a toe nail soon (same one as before and same as Sally’s) - a little earlier during the marathon training this time around.
With all this work, one would think I’d be in awesome shape…but, no, not so…all this work just seems to be making me more tired, achy, and extremely hungry ALL the time. I don’t think I’m eating unhealthy, but portion size is a problem. Anyway, I was hoping to get a little more fit during this go round of marathon training…but things just don’t seem to be going that way. Losing a little weight would be nice, but really I just want to be fit and firm regardless of my size…you know what I mean? Anyway it’s not happening and for some reason I’m just having a complex about this right now.
I was going to post, but the Dog Whisperer’s new season is apparently beginning.
Note to self: next time I’m in a rush to get out the door because I want to squeeze by run in before the football game, TAKE THE TIME to apply body glide to inner thighs! I have chubby thighs. It’s a fact. They rub together when I move, especially when running in a super-cute running skort. And I don’t know what the humidity was last night, but let’s just say it was humid and hot. By the time I was finished with my 6 miles, my legs were raw and I’m sure I was walking just like John Wayne. I iced my knees during the football game (Woohoo Addai!!), but I secretly wanted to sit with the ice pack between my legs. Pretty sure my roommate would have thought I was really weird, so I settled for some neosporin with the pain relief stuff. Probably not what neosporin was intended for, but it seemed to help.
Other than that, the 6 miles was fine… I felt a little heavy, a little sluggish. Sore knees towards the end, but my legs are finally feeling “normal” sore again. I skipped my Wed run in favor of a quick hike and climb at Willow River, so I’m going to try and pick up 3 tonight. Weather is supposed to be gorgeous this weekend. My long run this weekend is only 10. “Only” = Ha!
Hope everyone has great weather and magic runs this weekend!
