Well, the time is here…there’s no turning back. I’m ready…and surprisingly not nervous - yet. Did a little bit of sightseeing today…very little…must rest the legs. Pasta dinner was good, basic ‘ol pasta, but good none the less. Not much to post now…but trust moi, there will be plenty soon enough.

It’s official…I’m freaking out. Just as I said I would. I have been nervous off and on all day. I have gone to the bathroom a whole lot today. (Insert your own potty humor here.) I don’t have much to post I just thought I should. I will be attempting to sleep, or at least, lying in bed, staring at the ceiling very soon. We are getting up early. Really, really early. I’m doomed. (23:29)
Local Time: 21:45 (That’s 9:45pm)
Time till race: R-19 12 hours ( I realized the countdown was wrong…now fixed)
We slept in till noon today recovering from all our travel. We skipped the breakfast run. No major loss.
We did, however, make it to the official Pasta Party.
We can’t survive on just Steak Frites and Crepes. Mmmmmm, pasta…
For those who want to track along, here are our bib numbers:
- Toots : #43955
- Sally : #25976
- Lumpy : #34463
Well, that’s it from me for now. Time to go put my chip on my shoes.
I now have a new hobby…birdwatching…whilst Toots is out pounding the pavement, I am keeping vigil on my little friend(s), Red and Redder. It’s officially Spring here in Texas when you have a pair of red cardinals set up base camp on your front screen door. I’ve seen these fine feathered friends flutter around our front porch checking out a wreath that Toots left on the screen door for the past couple months. Apparently they seem to think that the wreath makes a good place for a nest. They’ve been patiently building this little love shack for the past couple days and they are just about finished. Here’s a pic of the female’s sillouette in the nest. Looks like we’re gonna have to avoid using the front entry way for awhile….(forgive me misspelling sillouette) !!!
We’re Here!!! A couple minutes of cleaning up before we’re off to the race expo to pick up out packets.
More later…
He, he, he…. :) Traded 86F weather 4 miler for pasta bon voyage dinner. Shout out to the Velez family, the Lasagne was deeelishhh…THANK YOU!!! Ok, got to pack now….
“Moments before, we were mere mortals. Now, standing proudly in front of the mirror, checking to see that the number is straight and properly placed, we are warriors…Like all great warriors, we stand ready to face the enemy. In most cases, that enemy is ourselves.” -John “The Penguin” Bingham, The Courage to Start
Speaking French on the phone has never been the easiest task for me. I just called our contact about our apartment, and I stumbled over 2 sentences and my mind went blank at one point. At least she didn’t start speaking English to me like most Parisians do once they hear my accent. So, we’re all set to get our key at 13:00 at the apartment! woo hoo!
Toots, I’m jittery, too. I printed out our pace charts for our cheering section and it struck me that I’m actually running this damn thing. I might even be ready, and that is scary. heh. I keep trying to visualize me crossing the finish line with 3:55 posted on the time clock. We’ll see if it’s working. I’ll be doing homework all day today. That should calm me down immediately, if not put me to sleep. I guess if I don’t post tonight, this is it until we get to France. Oh, and hey, it’s snowing.
A bientot!
Ok, I’m feeling mega “antsy”. Today’s 3 miler was once again scrunched in at lunch time…on the treadmill. I don’t recall much about the run, other than I was rushed trying to fit it into my work schedule. Every thing’s becoming a blur…maybe I’m just tired and REALLY need to catch up on some Zzzzzzz’s.
