I was all prepared for my 7 miler last night. I was ready for some flour running. It was supposed to be as warm as 2F. And I had DAWG.
I knew there was a wind chill down to about -11F but this was not a major concern. And I planned my run to avoid this as much as possible.
Whoops… WRONG.
GOOD:
- The snowy path was mostly nicely packed. Not so much flour.
- DAWG managed to kick in some Nitrous Dogxide when I needed a boost.
- It was a good steady run.
BAD:
- Wind shifted or something I blasted me most of the time.
- Much colder than expected–I suspect because I ran at night and I wasn’t soaking up some rays.
RESULT:
- A bit chilled when finished but warm for the run.
- Balaclava frozen solid, difficult to get off.
- Hair frozen solid. Ice hair. Fun.
- Inside of jacket, thin layer of frost on the inside.
- Fleece running shirt, thin layer of frost on the outside.
- DAWG, looking to run another 4 miles.

I’m still trying to decide which is worse - flour running or sand running. Dunno. They both make me hurt.
There is ONE way to find out.
Already got the registration packet in the mail - not sure if ready for the sand though….
