I’m declaring my 13 miler tomorrow the first annual Jack Frost Half Marathon (aka the Freeze Your Cajones Half Marathon). No given date, but it has to be at least 0°F and something better be nippin’ at your nose.
Here’s the weather for tomorrow:
It should be about -3 (before windchill) at noon when I run the kickoff race of this new annual event.
Heck, maybe I’ll organize a race next year…
Hey Toots, we ran in 101°F in Corpus Christi, TX…time to pay the piper and get yourself up here for a good freeze. Yeah, we’re goin’ off on the weather, but this is cool! Pun intended.
Oh, did I mention the “Wind Chill Advisory“?
Statement as of 9:34 PM CST on February 02, 2007
… Wind Chill Advisory remains in effect until 12 PM CST Monday…
A Wind Chill Advisory remains in effect until 12 PM CST Monday.
A prolonged period of sub-zero temperatures… coupled with brisk
northwest winds… will cause dangerous wind chill conditions
through Monday morning. The most hazardous wind chills are
expected during the morning hours with wind chills temperatures from
minus 25 to nearly minus 40 degrees are expected across much of
central and south central Minnesota and west central Wisconsin.
A Wind Chill Advisory means that very cold air combined with
projected wind speed will generate dangerously low wind chills.
This will result in frost bite and may lead to hypothermia if
precautions are not taken. If you must venture outdoors… make
sure you wear a hat and gloves. If you must travel… be sure your car is equipped with a winter safety kit in case of emergency.
Yeah…this may be flirting with disaster and perhaps I don’t need to run the Antarctica Ice Marathon.
Oh, and Sally will be doing a mere 17 miles on Sunday under, possibly, more pleasing conditions. She’s, well, tough.
