Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation) there is one elemental truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: That the moment one definitely commits oneself then providence moves, too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issue from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamt would have come his way.
I have learned a deep respect for one of Goethe’s couplets,”Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.”
BOLDNESS. There’s that word again. Toots and Sally. Bold. Going forth. Running. Audacieux. hmmm. Things to think about.
Tonight’s run was good. Lumpy and I ran together. I mixed my schedule, combining a 3 mile run with a 7 mile run and we did 5-ish. Felt good. The thing about running in cold weather when it’s windy, is that in one direction you are dressed perfectly. In the opposite direction, you’re hot as hell. Unfortunately, that’s just the way it is. I felt great tonight and I’m glad it’s a step-back week. The shorter mileage is a nice break. Grad school started this week, and I’m going to have a crapload of reading to do and think about and some massive writing to do. I’m pretty sure all of my runs will be filled with thoughts of feminist theory, race relations, transgender issues, and class structure in the U.S. today. whoo. On top of that, I need to start thinking about where I would like to attempt to get a teaching job, if I’ll even be able to…send good vibes. I will need ‘em this semester.
Something wrong with the site today…working on getting things back in order…
Update: Should be mostly good now. Mainly problems with stuff on the right sidebar. Let me know if anything looks amiss.
