I took some days off. I finally realized, after 4 marathons, that taking time off when you are sluggish and sore and tired is a good thing, and that making myself feel bad is not the best training tool. It started snowing today, so I am sure I’ll go tomorrow, but, frankly, it has been nice to not run. This coming week will be more intense, so I think I made the right decision to lounge about for a few days. Here’s to ‘07 being full of running, four-leggers, more learning, and lots more reading. …and now for my glass of champagne.

I did my 5 and this was how it looked for me for most of the run.

Okay…okay, I did most of my run. 4.85 miles.

And, as expected, it starts snowing AFTER my run. Feh. I hate global warming.
I’m glad to say yesterday’s run was a good one, no rain form me but nice cool damp weather instead. I squeezed in my 5 miler in the evening after Miguel’s soccer tournament, bidding farewell to Banana before she took off to Tampa, and getting ready for a night out in town. It was a good run…for safety’s sake I ran loops around Woodlawn Lake. The park was practically mine, only 2 other runners crazy enough to run out in “the cold” (50’s) on a Saturday evening when the Longhorns were playing here in town of all things! Well, got to get ready for tonight’s “fiesta”.
MAY YOUR FUTURE RUNS BE FABULOUS, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
I pushed back my 5 miler from yesterday to today, with the dim hope that the weather would improve slightly. Feh! It’s the final day of December, 2006 and it is near 40°F and raining. RAINING I tell you! This is Minnesota in December. I should be winding my way through the maze of shoveled sidewalks with 3 foot snow piles to the sides.
Instead, I’ll be trudging through a cool, wet, puddle strewn 5 miles.
I hate the rain.
